Upon finishing my final examination at Imperial, which marked the conclusion of my eighteen-month academic endeavor, I started to ponder the insights I’ve gained, both in my studies and on a personal level. My experience at Imperial has been life-changing, and I wish to share my journey with those contemplating their studies here.
1. Select your course thoughtfully
Having a background in Physics, I initially registered in a full-time Pure Mathematics Master’s program. However, I soon discovered that my preferences were more aligned with dynamical systems instead of solely theoretical subjects. Although I lacked some prerequisites for certain modules, I was confident that with dedication, I could catch up. Nevertheless, during examinations, I struggled to fulfill the requirements of the pure mathematics modules.
This prompted me to transition to the part-time MSc Applied Mathematics course. Although it was a difficult choice, it gave me the opportunity to concentrate on areas of interest and balance my studies with my startup endeavors.

2. Pursue your passions
Imperial features a wide variety of extracurricular opportunities, with more than 300 clubs and societies. I participated in welcome events and attended several society taster sessions, which assisted me in determining which groups to join.
I overcame my hesitation about changing societies mid-term, which expanded my social network. Make the most of your leisure time and treat yourself with enjoyable activities as a reward for your hard work!
3. Utilize the available resources
Imperial provides fantastic resources such as The Enterprise Lab and Advanced Hackspace to aid your projects. If you have a vision for a project, make the most of these resources.

If entrepreneurship isn’t your area, consider giving it a shot. Your Master’s program could be the last chance you have to experience the freedom of being a student, so take some chances – you may be surprised where they lead!
4. When in doubt, seek assistance
Imperial is renowned for its diligent students, many of whom are involved in elite sports, startups, or internships. This environment can be fulfilling, inspiring you to achieve your best.
However, obstacles may arise, whether from a challenging problem, an unsuitable match, or unforeseen circumstances.
