Upon relocating to London as an international student, one quickly observes how costs can add up, encompassing rent, groceries, transport, and tuition fees. The work environment also appears to be quite different, featuring new methodologies in working, communicating, and appreciating creativity compared to home.<\/p>\n

Part-time positions served as a link between these two realms for me, enabling me to manage my finances and gain insight into the UK market, particularly from a marketing and customer experience angle. My inaugural and favorite position was as a MORA Content Creator within Imperial’s central marketing division. Being compensated to produce content for a premier university felt surreal and positively influenced my year.<\/p>\n

Becoming a MORA Content Creator<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Producing content that reached over 700,000 viewers on Imperial\u2019s social media platforms made collaboration with the MORA team a dream come true. It revolved around storytelling and showcasing the student journey, acquiring skills in institutional communication, and grasping the tone and authenticity that appeals to a diverse audience.<\/p>\n

This position presented unforeseen chances, such as interviewing prominent figures like Rishi Sunak and Akshata Murty. None of these experiences would have materialized without accepting that initial opportunity. The MORA team is welcoming, supportive, and fosters creative exploration. Juggling work and classes necessitates organization. I scheduled shifts when my class timetable was less demanding. Your degree should be your primary concern, but a thoughtfully chosen part-time job can enhance your academic experience. My marketing assignments felt more relevant when linked to real-world employment.<\/p>\n

Throughout my Master\u2019s, I explored various roles such as waiter, event coordinator, barista, and bartender. Every job imparted unique lessons. Work in hospitality taught me genuine customer service, patience, teamwork, and how to maintain composure under stress. These insights and abilities remain invaluable beyond the caf\u00e9 environment.<\/p>\n

From a financial perspective, part-time roles were essential. I managed to pay for rent, transportation, and living costs while saving a little. As an international student, I was authorized to work up to 20 hours weekly during term time and full-time during breaks, striking a balance between income and rest.<\/p>\n
