Stepping into London for the first time felt incredibly intense. The city appeared enormous, noisy, and dynamic. With only a suitcase and Google Maps in hand, I was uncertain about where to begin. If you find yourself in a similar scenario, don\u2019t fret. Here\u2019s some guidance to assist you in acclimating to London before starting at Imperial, enabling you to relish your new city experience.<\/p>\n

Whether you arrive weeks ahead of schedule or just before the term kicks off, here\u2019s the advice I wish someone had shared with me.<\/p>\n

Prioritize Finding Accommodation<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Lock in your accommodation early to prevent costly hotel bills. I was lucky, but that\u2019s not the case for everyone. The top options vanish quickly, so strive to find a place close to your campus or a dependable Tube line to sidestep lengthy commutes.<\/p>\n

Take care of these necessities soon after reaching London:<\/p>\n

    At first, I struggled with the Tube and buses and ended up walking nine kilometers across London. Prevent this by obtaining a Student Oyster card and applying for the 18+ discount for cheaper fares on the Tube and buses. Walking remains an excellent way to discover and encounter hidden treasures.<\/p>\n

    Identify Your Comfort Zones<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    London can be daunting, so seek out comfort zones. For me, it\u2019s a local park and the O2 for movies. Your comfort zone might be a cafe, bookstore, or a bench by the river. These spots are ideal for unwinding and resetting your mind.<\/p>\n

Some of your most cherished moments will emerge from wandering a bit off course.<\/p>\n
