Stepping into London was a lot to take in; the city seemed enormous, noisy, and fast-paced. Armed with only a suitcase and Google Maps, I found myself uncertain about where to begin. If you’re feeling the same way, have no fear. Here\u2019s a guide on settling into London before your time at Imperial begins, allowing you to relish the city.<\/p>\n

Whether you\u2019re arriving early or just prior to the term, here\u2019s the guidance I wish I’d received.<\/p>\n

Book your accommodation early to steer clear of pricey hotel costs. I got lucky, but good choices disappear quickly. Try to live close to campus or on a reliable Tube line to minimize lengthy commutes for morning classes.<\/p>\n

    At first, I walked nine kilometers around London due to confusion with the Tube and buses. Don’t make the same error; obtain a Student Oyster card and apply for the 18+ discount for cheaper transportation. Walking is still a wonderful way to uncover hidden treasures.<\/p>\n

    Discover Your Favorite Spots<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    London can feel like a lot, so locate comforting places. For me, it’s a nearby park and the O2 for films. Find your own refuge, such as a caf\u00e9 or bookstore, to unwind and recharge.<\/p>\n

    Get to know the neighborhoods surrounding campus and your residence. Locate local supermarkets, pharmacies, parks, and eateries. Make sure to visit iconic landmarks, free museums, and take spontaneous strolls. Some of your fondest memories will arise from exploring a little aimlessly.<\/p>\n
