If you find yourself in a similar situation, don’t panic. Here\u2019s how to acclimate to London before beginning your journey at Imperial, ensuring you fully embrace your new city life.<\/p>\n

No matter if you arrive weeks in advance or right before classes start, here\u2019s the guidance I wished I had received upon arrival.<\/p>\n

To avoid costly hotel fees, aim to arrange housing as soon as possible. I was lucky, but that isn’t the case for everyone, as top choices can vanish quickly. Try to find a place close to your campus or a dependable Tube line to prevent lengthy journeys for early classes.<\/p>\n

When you get there, make sure to tackle these necessary tasks:<\/p>\n

    At first, I struggled to navigate the Tube or buses and ended up walking nine kilometers across London. Prevent this by acquiring a Student Oyster card and applying for the 18+ discount for reduced travel costs. That said, walking remains a fantastic way to uncover hidden treasures in the city.<\/p>\n

    Discover Your Comfort Zones<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    London can be emotionally taxing. Having a comfort zone is helpful; mine is a nearby park that I visit daily to unwind. The O2, just 10 minutes away, is another favorite spot for relaxing with a movie. Identify your own areas, whether it’s a cafe, bookstore, or riverside bench, to de-stress and recharge.<\/p>\n
