Arriving in London for the first time was quite daunting. The city appeared immense, noisy, and bustling. With merely a suitcase and Google Maps, I didn\u2019t know where to start. If you are about to go through this, don\u2019t fret. Here\u2019s how to adapt to your new life in London before commencing at Imperial, so you can relish the city.<\/p>\n

Whether you\u2019re getting there early or just in time for the term, here\u2019s the guidance I wish I had received.<\/p>\n

To steer clear of high hotel costs, book your lodging ahead of time. I was lucky, but not everyone shares that fortune. Search for a place close to your campus or a dependable Tube line to minimize lengthy trips for early classes.<\/p>\n

Once you’ve arrived in London, take care of these essentials:<\/p>\n

          Your initial week is pivotal for your student life. Meet your flatmates, classmates, and potential friends. Participate in Welcome Week to discover clubs and societies that pique your interest.<\/p>\n

          Even if you are reserved, make an effort to join in. I forged close friendships during campus tours and society booths. Your first week establishes the mood for your university experience.<\/p>\n

          Getting around London: travel wisely<\/strong><\/h3>\n

          At first, I was unfamiliar with the Tube or buses, so I trekked nine kilometers across London. It was an unforgettable yet disorganized experience. Obtain your Student Oyster card and apply for the 18+ discount to make travel more affordable.<\/p>\n

          Walking remains an excellent way to navigate the city and uncover hidden treasures.<\/p>\n

          Identify your safe havens<\/strong><\/h3>\n

          London can be emotionally intense. Locate a place of comfort, such as a park or caf\u00e9, to unwind and recharge. My personal favorites are a nearby park and the O2 for movies.<\/p>\n

          Find your preferred spots to relax within the city.<\/p>\n

          Discover the city!<\/strong><\/h3>\n

          Familiarize yourself with your campus and residential areas. Locate nearby supermarkets, pharmacies, parks, and your preferred eateries.<\/p>\n

          Explore renowned landmarks, free museums, and take a ride on a double-decker bus for the views. Enjoy losing yourself a little for unforgettable experiences.<\/p>\n
