Stepping into London for the first time was a lot to take in. The city appeared vast, noisy, and bustling. Armed with only a suitcase and Google Maps, I felt lost about where to start. If you find yourself in the same boat, there\u2019s no need to fret. Here\u2019s how to get acclimated in London before commencing at Imperial, allowing you to appreciate the city.<\/p>\n

Whether you\u2019re arriving ahead of time or just before the term begins, here\u2019s the guidance I wish I had received.<\/p>\n

Secure accommodation<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Steer clear of pricey hotel bookings by arranging housing ahead of time. I was lucky, but great choices vanish quickly. Search for options close to campus or a dependable Tube line to minimize lengthy commutes for morning lectures.<\/p>\n

When you get to London, tackle these necessities:<\/p>\n

I made lifelong friends while exploring campus tours and society booths. This week shapes your university journey.<\/p>\n

    Navigate London wisely<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    At first, I was unfamiliar with the Tube and buses, resulting in a nine-kilometer walk across London. Prevent this by obtaining a Student Oyster card and applying for the 18+ discount for more affordable travel. Walking remains an excellent way to uncover hidden treasures.<\/p>\n

    Identify your relaxing spots<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    London can be a lot to handle. Discover a comfort zone, such as a park or caf\u00e9, where you can unwind and recharge. My go-to places are a nearby park and the O2 for movies. Find locations that offer you solace.<\/p>\n

    Discover the city<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Acquaint yourself with the neighborhoods surrounding campus and your residence. Identify supermarkets, pharmacies, parks, and your favorite eateries. Tour landmarks, explore museums, and relish spontaneous strolls around the city. Some of your fondest memories will originate from moments of getting a bit lost.<\/p>\n
