Armed with only a suitcase and Google Maps, I found myself uncertain about where to begin. If this is you, there’s no need to stress. Here\u2019s how to acclimate to London before you start at Imperial, ensuring you can relish the city.<\/p>\n

Whether you’re arriving several weeks beforehand or just before the semester kicks off, here\u2019s the guidance I wish I had received.<\/p>\n

    During my first week, I trekked nine kilometers through London due to misunderstandings with the Tube and buses. It was quite the experience, albeit chaotic. Obtain a Student Oyster card and apply for the 18+ discount for more affordable travel. Walking remains an excellent way to uncover the city and its hidden treasures.<\/p>\n

    Discover Your Relaxation Spots<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    London can feel intense. Identify a comforting location, such as a nearby park, caf\u00e9, or bookstore, to unwind and reset. My personal refuges are a local park and the O2, where I take time for myself weekly.<\/p>\n

    Get acquainted with the neighborhoods surrounding your campus and residence. Locate local grocery stores, pharmacies, parks, and your go-to dining spots. Explore iconic landmarks, free museums, and enjoy spontaneous strolls. Some of your most cherished memories will arise from venturing off the beaten path.<\/p>\n
