Arriving in London for the first time was a whirlwind experience. The city appeared immense, noisy, and bustling. Armed with merely a suitcase and Google Maps, I felt disoriented. If you are about to embark on this adventure, there’s no need to fret. Here\u2019s how to acclimate to London prior to commencing at Imperial, ensuring you can appreciate the city.<\/p>\n

Whether you touch down weeks in advance or just ahead of the term, here\u2019s the guidance I wish I\u2019d had.<\/p>\n

Steer clear of expensive hotels by arranging your lodging ahead of time. I was lucky, but not everyone shares that fortune. The prime spots disappear quickly, so aim for a location close to the campus or a dependable Tube line to sidestep lengthy commutes.<\/p>\n

Even if you’re introverted, challenge yourself to get involved. I made wonderful friends through campus tours and society activities. This week lays the groundwork for your university journey.<\/p>\n

    <pDuring my first week, I struggled with public transport and ended up walking nine kilometers across London. It was unforgettable but disorganized. Obtain a Student Oyster card and apply for the 18+ discount for reduced travel costs. Walking remains an excellent way to explore and uncover hidden treasures.<\/p>\n

    Establish Your Comfort Zones<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    London can be a lot to handle. Identify a comforting location, like a park or caf\u00e9, to unwind and recharge. My favorites are a local park and the O2, where I relax with a film. Discover spots that bring serenity in the city.<\/p>\n

    Acquaint yourself with the neighborhoods surrounding your campus and residence. Find supermarkets, pharmacies, parks, and dining locales you enjoy. Visit renowned landmarks, free museums, and relish the views from a double-decker bus. Some of your fondest memories will stem from unplanned escapades.<\/p>\n
