If you’re about to face this, there’s no need for concern. Here’s how to acclimate to London before kicking off your journey at Imperial, allowing you to savor your new urban life.<\/p>\n

Whether you land weeks in advance or just ahead of the semester, here’s the guidance I wish had been shared with me.<\/p>\n

Prevent expensive hotel stays by securing your accommodation early. I got lucky, but not everyone does. The best choices vanish swiftly. Strive to reside near campus or along a dependable Tube line, as lengthy commutes can be troublesome for morning lectures.<\/p>\n

    At first, I misjudged the Tube and bus systems, resulting in a nine-kilometer trek across London. It was unforgettable yet chaotic. Acquire a Student Oyster card and apply for the 18+ discount for more affordable travel. Still, walking is a delightful way to uncover the city’s hidden treasures.<\/p>\n

    Identify Your Relaxation Spots<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    London can feel overwhelming. Having a place of comfort is beneficial \u2013 mine is a local park where I unwind daily. The O2, merely 10 minutes away, is also a favorite spot for enjoying a film. Explore your own retreats, be it a caf\u00e9, bookstore, or riverside bench, to recharge.<\/p>\n

    Discover the City<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Acquaint yourself with the neighborhoods surrounding your campus and residence. Find your closest supermarket, pharmacy, parks, and dining venues. Tour iconic sites, wander through free museums, and relish a ride on a double-decker bus. Some of your fondest memories will arise from moments of being a bit lost!<\/p>\n
