Stepping into London for the very first time was daunting, with its immense scale, cacophony, and rapid pace. With merely a suitcase and Google Maps in hand, I felt uncertain about where to start. If you are on the verge of this experience, don’t fret. Here\u2019s how to set your new life in London in motion before commencing at Imperial, so you can relish the city.<\/p>\n

Whether you arrive weeks in advance or just prior to the term commencing, here is the guidance I wish I had been given.<\/p>\n

Book your lodging early to steer clear of costly hotel fees. I was lucky, but not everyone enjoys that fortune, as the prime choices disappear quickly. Aim for a location close to your campus or along a dependable Tube line to minimize lengthy commutes for early classes.<\/p>\n

Once you get to London, tackle these key items without delay:<\/p>\n

Even if you have reservations, challenge yourself to get involved. I forged some of my closest friendships during campus excursions and society exhibits.     During my inaugural week, I trekked nine kilometers across London due to uncertainty with the Tube and buses. Avoid this by acquiring your Student Oyster card and applying for the 18+ discount for less expensive travel. Nevertheless, walking is still an excellent way to explore and uncover hidden treasures in London.<\/p>\n

    Discover Your Comfort Zones<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    London can be emotionally intense. Having a go-to place is beneficial \u2013 mine is a nearby park where I visit daily to unwind. My other locale is the O2, merely 10 minutes away, where I relax weekly with a film. Find your own havens, like a caf\u00e9 or a bookstore, to rejuvenate and reset.<\/p>\n

    Embark on Adventures!<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Familiarize yourself with the areas you frequently visit around campus and your residence. Explore local grocery stores, pharmacies, parks, and favorite eateries or coffee shops. Check out iconic sites, free museums, and take a ride on a red double-decker bus for the view. Some of your fondest memories will arise from a little bit of wandering.<\/p>\n

    Final Recommendations Before Immersing Yourself in Imperial Student Life<\/strong><\/h3>\n
