Arriving in London for the very first time was quite an experience. The city felt vast, noisy, and energetic. With only a suitcase and Google Maps in hand, I found myself unsure of where to start. If this is your upcoming experience, don\u2019t fret. Here\u2019s how to get settled in London before your time at Imperial, allowing you to embrace the city.<\/p>\n

Whether you get here weeks in advance or just before classes commence, here\u2019s the guidance I wish I had been given.<\/p>\n

Prevent expensive hotel fees by arranging housing ahead of time. I was lucky, but not everyone shares that fortune. Seek a location near campus or a dependable Tube line, as lengthy commutes for early morning lectures can be challenging.<\/p>\n

Even if you\u2019re reserved, make an effort to join in. I formed significant friendships during campus tours and society events. This week will shape your university journey.<\/p>\n

    At first, I was unfamiliar with the Tube or buses and ended up traversing nine kilometers across London on foot. Obtain a Student Oyster card and apply for the 18+ discount for reduced travel fares. Walking remains a wonderful way to explore and uncover hidden treasures.<\/p>\n

    Identify Your Comfort Zones<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    London can be a bit much at times. Discover a comforting location, such as a park or caf\u00e9, to unwind and recharge. My favorites include a nearby park and the O2 for movies. Find your own comforting spots in the city.<\/p>\n

    Get to know the neighborhoods surrounding your campus and residence. Find supermarkets, pharmacies, parks, and your preferred dining spots. Check out iconic landmarks and museums. Some of the best memories will stem from exploring and occasionally losing your way.<\/p>\n
