When I first arrived in London, it was a bit overwhelming due to its size and speed. With just a suitcase and Google Maps in hand, I felt lost. If you find yourself in a similar situation, don\u2019t fret. Here\u2019s how to kick off your new life in London before you begin at Imperial, allowing you to truly enjoy the city.<\/p>\n

Whether you get here weeks in advance or just in time for the term, here\u2019s the guidance I wish I had received.<\/p>\n

Steer clear of pricey hotels by organizing your living arrangements early on. I was lucky, but that’s not the case for everyone. The best options disappear fast, so aim for a spot close to your campus or a dependable Tube line to minimize lengthy commutes.<\/p>\n

Upon your arrival in London, focus on these important tasks:<\/p>\n

    Getting around London: smart travel tips<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    At first, I struggled with the Tube and buses, leading me to walk nine kilometers across the city. Prevent this by getting a Student Oyster card and applying for the 18+ discount for reduced fares. Walking, however, remains a wonderful way to uncover hidden treasures in the city.<\/p>\n

    Discover your favorite spots<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    London can be a lot to handle. Identify a comforting location, like a nearby park or the O2 for films, where you can relax and recharge. Whether it\u2019s a caf\u00e9, bookstore, or a bench by the river, having a place to unwind is essential.<\/p>\n
