“Where did you get that rug??” is one of the questions I’m asked most often. Rugs were the first big purchase decor item I started collecting when I moved into my first apartment. Below you’ll find my favorite places to browse for rugs (which I am almost always doing). There is a wide variety of brands, price points, and styles represented below, for a number of reasons.
Even if you plan to buy more budget-friendly rugs, I still recommend browsing brands with rugs at all price points. In my experience, getting familiar with what’s available from different designers and at different shops is one of the best ways to get to know your style and what you’re drawn to most. I’ve found that if I expose myself to unique and interesting pieces, even if they are out of my price range, I learn to more easily pick out the great pieces at stores with lower price points.

ECARPETGALLERY
ECARPETGALLERY is a great source for vintage rugs at deep discounts. We have rugs from this store in our office and our blue library. This is usually my first stop to see if a style I found on a site with more expensive pieces is available here at a lower price point. They update inventory often and have sales throughout the year, so this spot is worth keeping on your radar.

Chairish
Chairish is a place I love to browse rug styles, even though most are out of my price range. On a rare occasion, I will make a lowball offer—I’ve even had said offer accepted before (the vintage rug in the dining room is from Chairish)! They still cost an arm and a leg but they are forever pieces from reputable vintage dealers. Keep in mind that the Chairish return policy is very strict, so if you do buy one from a seller here and do not like it, you only have forty-eight hours to submit your return.

Loloi
Loloi is an amazing source for budget-friendly and kid-friendly (or pet-friendly!) rugs. They carry rugs in so many gorgeous styles, no matter your personal design taste. We have used them in areas where we know the kids and dogs will play hard or may be more likely to spill (we previously had this blush rug in the peach room).

Annie Selke
Annie Selke carries super high-quality rugs for modern and transitional spaces. I love the punchy colors and graphic prints. We got an Annie Selke runner for our basement kitchenette, and combined several rugs into a runner for our basement stairs.

Lulu & Georgia
I love what Lulu & Georgia is doing with their rug collaborations. The Sarah Sherman Samuel collection is iconic! We had one of the rugs from this collection in our main bedroom at our previous house and loved it.

eBay
I love eBay for the DEALS you can find if you’re willing to be patient and/or negotiate. I recently purchased a Swedish kilim runner from eBay for the hallway to our bedroom.

Etsy
Etsy is for those who love to hunt, and you can often find budget-friendly options here (I’ve also communicated with sellers on price through direct message). Plus, the more you browse and save items on Etsy, the better the platform gets at suggesting similar product options to you, which is helpful if you’re looking for something specific! I’ve purchased one rug from Etsy that I haven’t quite found the right place for yet (from a shop that is no longer online).

Nordic Knots
Nordic Knots carries rugs made in solid colors and graphic patterns that are made in relatively small batches. We have two rugs from here—a red rug in the family room and a cream rug in the main bedroom. One thing to expect is that these rugs tend to shed for the first couple of months you have them, so you may need to take additional vacuuming into consideration.

The Rug Company
I do not own a rug from The Rug Company but I have a number of styles saved for future purchases where I may want to make more of an investment in the longevity of the rug. Most rugs from The Rug Company are made in customizable sizes and there is a Build Your Own Rug feature on the site. They collaborate with powerhouse designer houses like Paul Smith and Alexander McQueen as well.

Beni Rugs
While I’ve never made a purchase from Beni Rugs, I’ve had my eye on this shop, which makes customized, made-to-order Moroccan rugs, for a while. This brand collaborates with top interior designers and tastemakers to bring fresh updates to the classic styles traditionally produced by Moroccan artisans.
