Part-time employment connected these two spheres for me, aiding in financial management and providing insights into the UK market, particularly from a marketing viewpoint. My initial and most cherished position was as a MORA Content Creator within Imperial’s central marketing department. Earning to produce content for a prestigious university felt unreal and positively impacted my year.
Becoming a MORA Content Creator
Collaborating with the MORA team was a dream come true, generating content for over 700,000 individuals across Imperial’s social media platforms. It involved narrating stories and conveying the student experience, mastering institutional communication, and grasping tone and authenticity for varied audiences.
This position provided unforeseen chances, such as interviewing notable personalities like Rishi Sunak and Akshata Murty. It all started with accepting a minor opportunity. The MORA team is encouraging and promotes creativity. If you have a passion for storytelling and exciting content projects, this is among the top part-time positions at Imperial.

Balancing work and study
Managing work and academics necessitates planning. I arranged shifts during lighter class loads. Your degree remains the priority, but a well-chosen part-time job can enhance your studies. My marketing coursework gained more significance when linked to real-world occupations.
Exploring different part-time jobs
Throughout my Master’s program, I explored various roles such as waiter, event coordinator, barista, and bartender. Each experience imparted distinct lessons. Work in hospitality equipped me with true customer service skills, patience, teamwork, and the ability to remain composed under pressure. These competencies have persisted beyond the café environment.
Financial independence and visa rules
Part-time jobs were financially vital, covering rent, commuting, and living costs, with some savings. International students are permitted to work up to 20 hours weekly during terms and full-time during breaks, balancing earnings with rest.
