For me, part-time positions acted as a bridge connecting these two worlds, aiding in financial management and offering insights into the UK market, especially in areas like marketing and customer experience. My first and most cherished role was as a MORA Content Creator with the central marketing team at Imperial. It felt unreal to be compensated for creating content for a prestigious university, positively impacting my year.

Contributing to the team and producing content for over 700,000 individuals on Imperial’s social media was a dream come true. It entailed storytelling and sharing the student journey, mastering institutional communication, and grasping the tone and authenticity that resonate with a variety of audiences.
This position led to unforeseen opportunities, such as interviewing notable figures like Rishi Sunak and Akshata Murty. These experiences wouldn’t have occurred without embracing a minor opportunity. The MORA team is welcoming, supportive, and provides a creative environment for experimentation. There are numerous avenues to uncover part-time employment while studying at Imperial. I discovered my role via Imperial’s internal job boards, including JobsLive, LinkedIn, and career fairs during Welcome Week. Customize your CV for the position and express enthusiasm. Keep in mind, most part-time employers prioritize reliability, initiative, and friendliness, not solely experience.
**Balancing work and study**
Managing work and classes necessitates strategic planning. I arranged my shifts for lighter class periods. Your degree should be your main focus, but an appropriately selected part-time job can enhance your studying experience. My marketing coursework gained additional significance when applied to actual jobs.
**Exploring different part-time jobs**
Throughout my Master’s program, I explored various roles such as waiter, event planner, barista, and bartender. Each position imparted something unique. My experience in hospitality taught me true customer service, patience, collaboration, and how to remain composed under pressure. These teachings have remained with me beyond the café environment.
