Upon your arrival in London as an international student, you’ll soon realize how costs such as rent, groceries, travel, and tuition can pile up quickly. Another insight is the unique professional culture, where work, communication, and creativity are viewed differently than in your home country.
For me, part-time employment connected these two worlds, assisting me in managing my finances while gaining an understanding of the UK market, especially in marketing and customer experience. My initial and most cherished position was as a MORA Content Creator on Imperial’s central marketing team. Getting paid to produce content for a prestigious university felt surreal and had a positive impact on my year.

Collaborating with the MORA team, generating content for over 700,000 individuals on Imperial’s social media platforms, was a dream come true. This position opened unexpected doors, such as interviewing notable figures like Rishi Sunak and Akshata Murty. These opportunities would not have been possible without my willingness to seize that initial chance. The MORA team is supportive and fosters creativity and exploration. **Balancing work and study**
Achieving a balance between work and study necessitates careful planning. I arranged shifts for when my class schedule was less demanding. Your degree should always come first, but a thoughtfully selected part-time job can enhance your education. My marketing coursework felt more applicable when linked to real-world roles.
**Exploring different part-time jobs**
Throughout my Master’s, I undertook various positions such as waiter, event manager, barista, and bartender. Each role imparted unique lessons.
