Luckily, South Kensington provides numerous off-campus study locations, such as cafés, museums, libraries, and outdoor spaces. Here are my favorite selections within walking distance of the campus.
1. Cafés – versatile, cozy, and ideal for daily study
South Kensington is brimming with cafés perfect for informal study sessions, group conversations, or working on laptops. Favorites among Imperial students include Starbucks, Pret a Manger (with one located on campus at the main entrance!), Filo Coffee, EL&N, as well as the V&A Museum’s Main Café, Garden Café, and Patisserie, which are conveniently across the street from campus.
These cafés generally provide:

- A laid-back atmosphere
- An array of beverages and snacks
- Extended operating hours
- A soft background hum that can support focus
