This is an essential decision, particularly since you can only apply to one Master’s program during each admissions cycle at Imperial Business School. Reflect on what you wish to study and how the program can deepen your grasp of your interests and aspirations. As I concluded my BSc Business Analytics course, where I developed a foundation in analytical tools and entrepreneurship, I aimed to advance in this area without covering repeat content or confining myself. The course design at Imperial, featuring a variety of modules, captivated me. The offered modules provided insights into new fields such as logistics, supply chain analytics, leadership in analytics, and business problem-solving, resonating with my interests and ambitions.
Throughout my undergraduate journey, I dreamed of becoming a business intelligence analyst but had not fixated on a specific sector. I was eager to investigate different domains before fully committing to a career. My time at Imperial, alongside diverse modules and methodologies, facilitated my understanding of my preferences. Gradually, I found myself attracted to fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) analytics. This period of exploration was enlightening and equally as important as the technical expertise I acquired.
Entry Criteria for Master’s Programs
The entry criteria can feel intimidating, particularly considering Imperial’s esteemed status. Take a moment to assess your experiences against the program requirements. I found that my undergraduate degree fulfilled most of the criteria. Master’s programs do not require you to be an expert; it’s essential to illustrate how you can utilize your abilities and knowledge to excel. A clear understanding of the course’s expectations makes the requirements seem more attainable.
A significant portion of my anxiety originated from presumptions rather than actual criteria. Carefully reviewing the course information and matching your experiences to the requirements can disclose that you are more equipped than you previously believed.
English Language Proficiency Requirements
International applicants should be mindful of the English language proficiency standards. Depending on where you obtained your degree, you may need to undertake an examination like IELTS. I was exempt from additional assessments since I studied in the UK. If you must meet English proficiency standards, consult Imperial’s website. Imperial also provides Pre-sessional courses to prepare students in academic English.
Crafting Your Postgraduate Personal Statement

Many individuals try to perfectly portray their experiences, which can come off as disingenuous. Leverage your experiences to your benefit. I dedicated considerable time to my personal statement, contemplating my career path, reasons for selecting Imperial, and how my earlier experiences align with my objectives.
Documenting everything I engaged in during my undergraduate studies, including modules, projects, clubs, and volunteering, was beneficial. I contemplated my work in data visualization, my passion for media and AI, and my leadership roles. I connected these experiences to each prompt instead of relying on broad statements. For instance, rather than stating ‘I am passionate about data,’ I centered on specific projects and articulated their impact on my interests and aspirations.
Being expressive and genuine is crucial, but steer clear of excessive detail. Refined or standard responses don’t add value, particularly when compared to AI-generated content.
