I experienced the same feelings when I submitted my application for the MSc Business Analytics program, so here’s a guide detailing the application process and how to optimize it.

When deciding on your program, consider not just your previous education, but also what you desire to delve deeper into and how the program can expand your comprehension of your passions and future path. During my last year of BSc Business Analytics, I built a strong foundation in analytical tools and entrepreneurship. I aimed to advance in this area without repeating material or confining myself too soon. The flexible module options in Imperial’s curriculum appealed to me. The modules provided insights into areas I hadn’t investigated, such as logistics, supply chain analytics, and leadership in analytics, aligning with my interests and ambitions.
Throughout my undergraduate experience, I envisioned becoming a business intelligence analyst but wasn’t set on a specific industry. I wanted to assess various fields before dedicating myself to a full-time position. Attending Imperial and engaging with diverse modules and analytical techniques enabled me to identify my inclination towards FMCG analytics. Documenting everything I accomplished during my undergraduate studies, including modules, projects, clubs, and volunteering, proved beneficial. I contemplated my work with data visualization, interest in media and AI, and leadership roles, which shaped my viewpoint on analytics. I connected these experiences to each question, steering clear of generic phrases. Instead of stating ‘I am passionate about data,’ I emphasized specific projects and their impact on my interests and objectives.
Being genuine and authentic is important, but refrain from excessive detail. Generic or overly polished replies offer little substance, particularly with AI-generated responses that lack uniqueness. I noted my experiences, lessons, and missteps, composed a draft, and refined my statement. Having a trusted individual review it can provide fresh perspectives.
